Just sat down to write something. Morgana, our two-year old Maine Coon mix jumped up on the desk demanding attention. She was followed by Melisandre – “Mel” for short – who is lurking behind the monitor.
That’s them in the featured photo, struggling for cat tree supremacy. Their older sister, 11-year old torty Henley, feels herself above such cat hijinks.

She is a Zen cat. Her interaction with Morg and Mel is generally limited to following them around from time to time to smack their furry little butts. Someone has to maintain control.
Much done today, and the day is only half over.
As mentioned, I was recently awarded a 90-percent service-connected disability for the Parkinson’s disease I contracted from drinking the Camp Lejeune water from 1975 to 1977. That means, I am eligible for free health care from the VA for the rest of my life. But I had to enroll in the program. Not that I expected a hassle, but it did take 18 months from the day I submitted my claim to get a final resolution, so I was ready for any bureaucratic bumbling that might arise.
I was in and out of the clinic in the span of an hour. My first appointment will be October 2. Nice and smooth.
Then, to a local cigartorium to get a couple stogies for a trip to and from Charleston tomorrow. Gonna touch base with a neice, the daughter of my late twin brother, who I haven’t seen since she was a baby.
Tonight is the first Green Bay Packers game of the season. Can’t miss it, won’t miss it, even though the NFL is only showing the game on Peacock, which means I had to shell out for a monthly subscription. Bastards.
Got some more cat decor for the apartment arriving today. Then more next week.
Here’s hopin’ your day is going well as well.
